Share the sheet and the guide. Never share your Mac, SSH keys, or credentials.
1Share the sheet as view-only
- Open the sheet → Share
- General access → Anyone with the link → Viewer
- Copy link
Why Viewer: your MCP setup writes to this sheet. Editors could break formulas, columns or numbering your CLAUDE.md depends on.
If someone should help maintain it, add them by email as Editor and agree on the column rules first.
Optional: Protect formula columns and header rows (Data → Protect sheets and ranges).
2Tell people what they're looking at
Add a short note row or a "README" tab in the sheet: - What each tab holds - Time zone of all times - Who maintains it - "Always double-check the official source (LMS / announcements)"
3Announce it
Template (edit freely):
Hi all 👋
Our tracker sheet with all upcoming quizzes, assignments and deadlines,
sorted by urgency with a days-left counter:
📊 <sheet link>
I update it using Claude AI + MCP from my Mac and iPhone.
If you'd like the same for your own sheets, step-by-step guide:
🔗 <repo link>
Ping me if anything's missing 🙏
Attach a screenshot of a ts03-brief or ts03-week result: it explains the idea instantly. Crop out your terminal prompt, hostname and anything personal first.
4Help others set up their own
Point them to the README and the three lessons:
1. Credentials in ~/.config/mcp-credentials/
2. --with 'mcp<2'
3. A ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md describing their sheet
Each person uses their own Google Cloud project, OAuth client, token and Claude plan.
Want the whole group to query the sheet?
Viewing the sheet covers most needs. If people want to ask questions too, don't open your Mac to them. Use a separate bot with its own service account and a user whitelist:
Start read-only, add write commands later if needed.
Etiquette
- Keep the sheet accurate: stale deadlines erode trust fast.
- Say where information came from (the Notes column is good for "posted on ... by ...").
- Don't add personal details of people to a link-shared sheet.
